LEDified cracks the code for selling eco-friendly solutions

LEDified cracks the code for selling eco-friendly solutions

Almost everywhere you turn, there’s a message reminding you about the environmental threats to the planet. Many Australians want to make a difference, but struggle to prioritise the needs of the Earth over the needs of their own. The media and the government have tried to guilt people into taking action.

Some people responded to it, however most of the population either chose to ignore or live with the guilt due to other priorities in their lives. And that’s the thing that environmentalists fail to understand. In order to get people to commit to sustainable initiatives, it must become a priority in people’s minds.

The implementation of sustainable technologies, habits and practices has failed in the past primarily because the message that was being promoted didn’t resonate with the needs and desires of the Australian people. Appealing to people’s vanity only worked for a few. Instead, appealing to people’s health, wellbeing, quality of life and financial livelihood is the key that will unlock the motive that will make sustainability a priority.

LEDified revolutionises Australia’s commitment to tackling carbon emissions

According to The Conservation, Australia ranks 20th in the world on progress towards sustainability goals. This has been driven by the Australian government’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions by implementing sustainability programs. LEDified galvanized sustainable initiatives by offering energy-efficient LED light bulbs such as LED floodlights commercially to the Australian market. Since the company’s launch in 2012 by serial entrepreneur Suren Chandrajit, LED has become the country’s largest supplier of LED lights with an estimated 40% share of the commercial market and 60% share of the residential market.

Much of the company’s success has come from the price reduction of LED light bulbs compared to their incandescent counterparts. This has curbed consumer demand for years and it’s only recently that LED manufacturers have been able to scale LED light bulb production to a price point where consumers are prepared to pay a price that they believe is fair in exchange of the cost savings that LED lights provide.

The pricing of LED lightbulbs has even spiked the interests of the little Aussie battlers

There are over 2.5 million Australians under the poverty line. The switch to energy-efficient lighting solutions is a welcome change for many Australians whose household costs. LEDified’s customers typically report a 60% reduction in energy costs following an LED upgrade.

The financial benefits from LED light upgrades are better than the solar panel incentives that have been promoted by many governments in Australia. Even though solar energy is a great sustainable solution, the return on investment has been lacking since the panels are usually expensive to setup and the property owner will sell the energy back to the power grid, which gives them a discount on their energy bill.

The disadvantage is that it doesn’t impact the energy consumption habits of the household. The biggest benefit of LED light bulbs is that the technology reduces the energy consumption within the property, thus reducing each property’s contribution to carbon emissions.

What’s next for LEDified?

LEDified is gaining interest from wealthy investors that want to see their profitable and sustainable business model expanded nationwide. Chairman Jeff Kennett believes that the business could eventually be listed on the Australian Stock Exchange, however the key focus for now is growing the customer base of the business. They’ve been able to partner with energy providers who can provide financing models for their target market whilst encouraging those customers to upgrade to a more sustainable solution.

The vision of entrepreneur Suren Chandrajit has triggered a new gold rush among Australian investors and has pioneered the way for the commercialisation of an eco-friendly lighting solution in an era where sustainability initiatives are necessary.
